Programs and Projects

Following are the main projects and programs of the Federation:

  1. Opening ultimate clubs at Ukrainian universities
    The goal of the project is to develop an effective approach to creating ultimate clubs at national universities. This includes such tasks as creating official documents for submission to departments of physical education and the development of a recommended procedure of interaction with teaching and student bodies based on the existing experiences.
  2. Creating new teams
    One of the priority programs is the development of new ultimate teams in the major cities of Ukraine.  This involves work with social networks, forums, university contacts and other channels of disseminating the information about the sport amongst the target audience.
  3. Registration of the sport with the flying disk
    Today one of the top UFDF goals is the registration of ultimate in the National Sport Classification of Ukraine. This official recognition will help obtain state support in other projects and programs of the Federation.
  4. Web site development and support

  5. Promotion of the sport through mass media
    The goal of this program is to inform the public about ultimate and other sports with the flying disk. Specifically, the task is to cooperate with mass media on every UFDF project.
  6. Production of affordable flying disks
    The Federation manufactures and sells inexpensive flying disks Gotcha. By size and weight, these disks meet the rules of ultimate, but are half as expensive as imported disks.
  7. Cooperation with state bodies
    UFDF actively involves state bodies to implement its programs and projects. For example, the Federation cooperates with the governmental organization Sport For All in promoting the sport and healthy lifestyle.
  8. Organization of tournaments and other sport events
    Every year UFDF organizes a number of ultimate tournaments in order to define the top team that will represent Ukraine in international tournaments:
    • Ukraine's Open Nationals

      The most important ultimate tournament that defines Ukrainian representative in international tournaments.  This tournament is held since 2006.

    • Kiev Hat
      www.hat.com.ua
      A large international tournament for beach ultimate, which is held on one of the beaches of the Dniper. The number of participants increases every year and has reached 300 players from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, the Baltic republics and other countries. In 2010, the tournament will span 3 days. In 2008, the tournament also featured the first dog frisbee championship. This tournament is held since 2005.

    • Lubart Cup
      Due to its proximity to the Belorussian border, this tournament is popular with most Belorussian teams. The tournament features the Ukrainian DDC championship. The tournament is held since 2007.

      Surface: turf
    • Open Indoor Ukrainian Nationals
      This tournament defines the best Ukrainian club in indoor ultimate.  The first time it was held in 2009 in Kiev. In 2010 it will be held in Luts'k.

    • Zula, the Western Ukrainian Ultimate League
      A series of three regional tournaments: spring, summer and autumn. The tournaments and held since 2008, mainly in L'viv.
      Format before 2010: 5х5, closed club, one day
      Format starting 2010: 7х7, open club, two days

    • Banosh
      Rookie indoor tournament, held since 2009.
      Locaton: Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivs'k oblast
      Time: 2nd half of February
      Format: 5х5, open club
      Surface: indoor
    • Black Sea Cup
      Since 2010, this tournament will replace the traditional training camp on the Black Sea shore. This will be the first National tournament organized in the southern part of Ukraine.  
      Location: Karoliono-Bugaz, Odessa oblast
      Time: end of June
      Format: 5х5, open club
      Surface: beach
    • Training camp
      This event has no games, only theory of ultimate and educational trainings.  Held since 2008. The location changes from year to year.
